We are seeking a Controller for a small, private equity owned consumer products firm approx (less than $50M). Our ideal candidate will have 8-12 years of recent/current corporate finance experience working in or with a world class consumer goods firm and the ability to wear multiple hats, as this firm has outsourced finance/accounting activities in the past and has no in-house finance/accounting resources.
In addition, the ideal candidate will have a strong track record of demonstrating outstanding leadership and delivering business results. High energy and a passion for the work are a must for success in this exciting and unique opportunity!
Requirements:
- CPA and technically strong in GAAP
- Attention to detail – no mistakes mentality
- Experience working with outside audit, tax, and bank resources
- Experience in packaged consumer goods sold through food/drug/mass retailers a plus
or experience managing customer deductions and collecting A/R
- Maximum of 8-10 years experience – enough to have fought many battles, but still an emerging star
- Can’t overemphasize the emerging star – this is a junior hard charger looking for the next big career step. Would be given large amounts of responsibility early
- High level of initiative and follow-through. A self-starter that takes the opportunity to do the next step of analysis to gain deeper insights
- Capable of transitioning the existing system of one of the owners and a 3rd party accounting firm doing the monthly close, to an in house effort
- Able to recruit, train, manage, and retain in house accounting staff (no current talent in house today)
- Strong communication skills – can communicate well with management, an outside board, investors, and lenders
- Well versed in internal controls and confident enough to tackle control issues
- Chemistry – this is a small team energized to build a small company into something more on a rapid timeline. Someone that can get excited about that environment and make the team push even harder would be a great fit
